Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in France's Puy-de-Domme on the 9th of August, 1976. She was the youngest among four kids. Her parents a dental surgeon and a teacher recognised and backed her love for theatre and drama as early as she was a child. This superseded an initial desire to be a primatologist due to her love of monkeys. Her meteoric rise as an actress in her early years was swift and marked by her early successes. When she graduated in 1998, her education, she was selected to take part in Jeunes Premiers which is a French show on TV that is a talent-scouting initiative, which is sponsored by Canal+. There she received the award for best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. It was this that led her to begin her professional acting career. Tautou attended the Institut Catholique de Paris, was a churchgoer when she was a child and was raised Catholic. She has now distanced herself with the Catholic tradition. Along with her acting career, she pursued a modelling career. Also, she is the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc & Chanel and often called The Chanel Muse. A keen photographer, she has recently exhibited during The Arles International Festival titled Superficial. Her photography is focused on celebrity, fame and the media that scrutinised her after her rise to fame as Amelie. Additionally, there are a number of photographs featuring herself. Audrey Tautou rose to fame and acclaim with her big performance in Le Fabuleux in the film d'Amelie Pouulain. Amelie achieved international success on the screen and won awards around the globe. It's the largest French language film ever to be released in the US. In the wake of this achievement, Tautou was featured in numerous films from British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's film Un long Sunday of fiancailles. She then moved to Hollywood with Ron Howard's direction of The Da Vinci Code, a Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code together with Tom Hanks.
